WADESBORO - Mrs. Marilene Carpenter Morris, 74, died Friday, August 3, 2012 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services will be 5:00pm Sunday, August 5, 2012 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Marilene was born January 10, 1938 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Lester W. and Lula Harrington Carpenter. She was a retired textile seamstress. Surviving are her brothers and sisters, Bobby Carpenter of Wadesboro, Frank Carpenter, Dan Carpenter, Harvey Carpenter and Freddy Carpenter all of Lilesville, Lib Simpson of Hardeeville, SC, Midge Kilbane of Charleston, SC and Jean Pruitt of Gaffney, SC and her nieces and nephews and their families. Her husband, Roy Thomas 'Tommy' Morris preceded her in death in 2005. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
