Wadesboro - Marilyn Garver Poisson passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Ms. Poisson was born on November 15, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Percy Emil Pete Garver and Fairy Fasig Peg Garver.
Ms. Poisson married her husband, the late Frederick Davis Poisson, Sr., on August 5, 1950 in New York. Mr. and Mrs. Poisson resided in Wilmington, Raleigh, Greensboro, Asheville, and most recently, for the past 25 years, in Wadesboro. Ms. Poisson attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she graduated with a double major in French literature and English literature. She was a homemaker and raised four wonderful children with the help of her late husband. She truly loved her family.
In addition to raising a loving family, Ms. Poisson also enjoyed flowers, animals and especially bird watching. She also enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She attended Calvary Episcopal Church and served on the altar guild at the church.
Ms. Poisson is survived by her four children, Frederick Davis Poisson, Jr. (Lynn) of Wadesboro, David Garver Poisson (Julia) of Seven Lakes, Louisa Gethyn Poisson of Black Mountain, and Mary Ann Poisson Cody (Ed) of Salisbury. Ms. Poisson is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Stewart (Andrew), Crystal (Jared), Davis (Tate), David (Ann), Abbey, Anna Lee, Will and Caroline; and her seven great-grandchildren, Tessa, Lia, Lilith, Alexander, Luke, Cutlar and Jonathan. She is also survived by her brother, John Garver (Freda), and their children Sally, Kate and Ashley.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Wadesboro, North Carolina with a reception to follow. The family suggest that memorials be made to the Anson County Animal Shelter, 101 S. Greene Street, Suite 205, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
