Martha Clark Hooks

NORWOOD - Mrs. Martha Clark Hooks, 72, of Norwood and formerly of Wadesboro, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, November 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with Rev. Todd McSwain and Rev. Bob Cauble officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the home. Martha was born May 15, 1944 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Allen James Clark and the late Eugenia Morton Clark. She was a 1962 graduate of Wadesboro High School. While Martha had been employed in both medical and banking fields in her life, her most noted career was that of homemaker. She was a devoted military wife and a superior mother to her three children. She loved to cook and was an excellent baker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Norwood and a lifetime member of VFW Post 6183 Auxiliary in Norwood. Remembered by her family and friends as one who loved and cared for others unconditionally; She is survived by her husband of 53 years, CMSgt (Retired) Robert M. Bob Hooks, USAF of the home; her children, Dr. Debbie Hooks-Ward and husband, Dr. Phillip Ward of Cary, Lisa Bevans and husband, LtCol (Retired) Shawn Bevans, USAF of Sanford and Rob Hooks of Pinehurst; her granddaughters, Alyssa Norris of Cary and Brooke Norris of Wilmington, DE; her step-grandchildren, Dr. Meredith Ward of Hartford, CT and Dr. Marshall Ward of Philadelphia, PA; very special friends, who were more like family, David Williamson and Sandy and Diane Drye; and four-legged little girl, Zoe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret.
