Mrs. Helen King Maness, 87, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, in Hospice of Union County, Monroe.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Bost officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the funeral beginning at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Griffin Cemetery, Polkton.
Helen was born in Anson County on June 15, 1925, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson King and Janie Mae Williamson King. She worked in Maryland briefly for the FBI in their fingerprinting department before returning to Anson County and working a number of years at Polkton Mfg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Maness, a son, David Everhart, brother, John Pickett King and sister, Rachel Thomas.
Survivors include her children, Martha H. Dillenburg, Kimberley B. Clifton, Maurya M. Dwiggins, William Cordell, Robert Maness, Bobby Maness, Darla Verhyen and John Thomas 'Tommy' Maness; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Myrtle Meeks of Polkton.
