Martha Burns Mrs. Steagall

MORVEN - Mrs. Martha Burns Steagall, earned her Angel wings on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Aldersgate Retirement Community in Charlotte. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at Morven United Methodist Church with Rev. Davi Trotti officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Martha was born October 28, 1926 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Collie Hearne Buck Burns and the late Connie Allen Burns. She was a graduate of Wadesboro High School and attended Greensboro College. She was an active and dedicated member of Morven United Methodist Church and had served in many of the churches ministries. Martha loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She played often at Morven United Methodist Church and in later years for her friends at Aldersgate Community in Charlotte. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed playing rubicube with her church friends. Surviving are her children, Anne (Ronald) Purcell of Wesley Chapel, Jeanne Price of Charlotte, Allen (Susie) Steagall of Monroe and Sara Lynne (Scott) Webb of Summerville, SC; her grandchildren, Kristy (Ashley) Hunsucker of Ft. Mill, SC, Jason (Sara) Purcell of Tega Cay, SC, Travis (Nicole) Steagall of Peachland and Katherine (John) Martin of Wingate and her great-grandchildren, Brayden and Baxley Hunsucker, Emma and Allie Steagall and Weston and Graham Purcell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey Steagall, grandson, Jacob Webb and brothers, Buck and James Burns.
