Wadesboro Mrs. Mary Anne Pate Baker, 76, died Wednesday, August 14, 2019, while a patient at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Rowan County.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday at First Baptist Church, 309 Lee Avenue, Wadesboro, NC, with Dr. Harry Workman and Rev. Ken Goins officiating. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00PM.
Born in Anson County on November 29, 1942, Mary Anne was a daughter of the late Zeb and Nettie Teal Pate. She graduated Wadesboro High School and from St. Andrews College with an Associate Degree. She was the longtime secretary for her husbands business, Anson Well Drilling as well as a homemaker for Alan and their two sons. Mary Anne was also a member of First Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn (Lisa) Baker of Granite Quarry and Kirk Baker of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Jeanna, Chase, Alexis, Weston, and Chaz; one brother, Tommy (Linda) Pate of Lilesville; and a sister-in-law, Betty Pate of Ansonville.
In addition to her parents, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Baker, and a brother Zeb Pate, Jr.
