POLKTON - Mrs. Mary Funderburke Carpenter, 86, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday and other times at the Jenkins Home in Polkton. Mary was born February 18, 1927 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Stephen Bowman Funderburke and the late Minnie Hart Vaughn Funerburke. She was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Carpenter and by her brothers and sisters, James, Clyde, Jack and Sarah Funderburke and Becky Moore. Surviving are her children, Barbara Jenkins, Johnny R. Carpenter and Tammy C. Liles all of Polkton, Margaret R. Duvall of Cheraw, SC and Nancy (Mike) Usrey of Rockingham; her brother, Harold Funderburke of Wadesboro; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Ambassador Health and Rehab for their loving care given to Mary while she was a resident there. They were her extended family.
