Wadesboro – Mrs. Joan Holloway Waddell, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 while a patient at the Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville, NC.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00PM Sunday, August 30, 2020 in the Brown Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Joan was born on May 28, 1934, in Oklahoma City, OK, a daughter of the late Elbert and Hazel Reynolds Holloway. After graduating high school in Oklahoma, she married, and moved to California. Following a divorce from her first husband, she went to work with the Pacific Bell Telephone Company where she met and began dating a young man who also worked at Pacific Bell. His name was Leon Bennett Waddell and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage together. Upon their retirement from Pacific Bell, they moved to Anson County where they enjoyed a slower pace of life until Leon’s death in 2016.
Survivors include: her children, Sherry Conley (Everett) of West Virginia, Scott Venator of Newport Beach, CA and Steve Venator of Wadesboro; three grandchildren, Stacey Venator, Tyler Venator, and Jason Joy; and one great-grandchild, Jayden Marie Corea.
Also surviving is one brother, Tommy Holloway of San Francisco, CA; and a daughter-in-law, Denise Venator of Huntersville. In addition to her husband, Joan was preceded in death by a son, Rick Venator, who died in 2013.
