On September 12, 2014, Mary 'Mae' Helen Cox Nunn slipped into eternal sleep at her home at the age of 83. She was born in Anson County on May 23, 1931 to Joe and Allie Huntley Cox. Mary was educated in Anson County and was a member of Free Rock Church.
Mary had a very full life, spending her early years in Brooklyn, New York, later returning to Anson County with her husband, Randolph Nunn, to be closer to her extended family. She was retired from Wade Manufacturing Company with 23 years of service, retired later from Anson County Schools and in later years worked as a private duty CNA, working until she was 80 years old.
In addition to being known for her care of elderly and gardening talents, she is credited by many young people for encouraging them to make the right choices and staying on the straight path. She never met a stranger and would help anyone to the best of her ability.
She leaves with wonderful memories two Sisters; Gladys (Vernon) Bennett, Christine King. Children: Charles Cox, Odessa Cox, Karen (Weldon) Harris, Priscilla Nunn, Rochelle (Ervin) Streater, Diane (Willie) Parson, Randolph Junior Nunn, Yolanda Sturdivant, Grandchildren: Charise, Akeem, Ryan, Dimitri, Olivia, Leeann, Surya, Danta, Cameron, Aaliyah; and loving extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Nunn, sisters, Johnsie Garris, Odessa Miller, brothers, Charles 'Sonny Boy' Cox, Nathan 'Buddy' Cox
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
