LILESVILLE - Mr. Matthew Ryan Burroughs, 38, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Kaye Fry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Matt was born March 2, 1977 in Richmond County, NC one of four sons born to Jabie Leak Burroughs and Frances Sellers Burroughs. He was a graduate of Anson High School and worked with his father and brothers at Jabie Burroughs Logging. He enjoyed the time spent with his father and brothers in the woods and fishing. Surviving are his parents, Jabie and Frances Burroughs of Lilesville; his brothers, Stephen Burroughs, Christopher Burroughs and Joel Burroughs all of Lilesville; his aunts and uncles, Linda Usrey of Lilesville, Judy and Don Horne of Peachland, Jim and Pauline Sellers of Robbins, Jennie and Richard Honeycutt of Indian Trail, Gene and Lorraine Burroughs of Lilesville, Mary Liles of Ocean Springs, MS, Jerry and Deloris Burroughs of Wadesboro, Joan and Gary Taylor of Norwood and Doris Burroughs of Lilesville. Matt was a quiet man who lived a simple life to himself. His parents said they had seen him at his highest and lowest points and loved him just the same. God gave him to them, he was theirs to love. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, % Mrs. Martha D. Goodwin, 3788 Stanback Ferry Rd., Lilesvile, NC 28091.
