Mattie McGlothen Underhill

MARSHVILLE Mrs. Mattie McGlothen Underhill, 85, died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Services will be 10:00am Monday, March 26, 2018 by the graveside at Deep Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Peachland with Rev. Henry Haney officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Mattie was born June 10, 1932 in Tennessee a daughter of the late Ernest McGlothen and the late Aprilla Johnson McGlothen. She was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church and retired from Rock Ten Boxing in Wingate. Surviving are her children, Sherry (Rocky) Carpenter of Peachland and Don (Betty Sue) Underhill of Mt. Gilead; her grandchildren, Rocky (Laura) Carpenter, II of Polkton, Rhett (Erica) Carpenter of Quantico, VA, Cassi (Zach) Scoggins of Polkton, Cruse Carpenter of Peachland, Chance Underhill of Charlotte and Abbie (Brenton) Schmitt of Locust; her great-grandchildren, Zaiah, Cali, Elah, Rocky, III, Scarlett, Kaden and Noah and her brother, James Dale McGlothen of McMinnville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
