Maxine Horne Mrs. Mitchell

PEACHLAND - Mrs. Maxine Horne Mitchell, 77, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with Rev. Tony High and Rev. Barry Gerald officiating. Interment will follow in Horne Family Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Thursday and other times at the home of her daughter in Peachland. Maxine was born January 12, 1938 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Morven Washington Horne and the late Lilly Viola High Horne. She had worked for a number of years in textiles and as a private duty care giver. Surviving are her children, Kendra (Jimmy) Mitchell Melton of Peachland, Robbie N. Mitchell of Lenoir, Timmy (Buffy) Mitchell of Kernersville and Shannon Sims of the home; her grandchildren, Russell, Sheena, Heather, Shaun, Elizabeth, Blake, Chris, Jamie and Joey; 9 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Diane Shackelford and Brenda (Don) Deatherage both of Peachland and her sister-in-law, Vivian Horne of Peachland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Mitchell and Mike Mitchell, sons, Jeff Mitchell and Randy Mitchell and brother, Gary Horne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anson County Relay for Life Team, % American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Charlotte, NC 28207.
