WADESBORO – Mrs. Maxine Pettit Wallace, 87, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, February 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swaringen officiating. Entombment will follow in Anson Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Maxine was born April 10, 1936, in Ft. Lawn, SC and was a daughter of the late George Washington Pettit and the late Ola Johnston Pettit. She was a graduate of Ft. Lawn High School and attended Winthrop University.
She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hanahan, SC and after moving to Anson County to be near her family, she attended Cathedral Baptist Church in Wadesboro. She had been an active part of her community and had volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Hanahan, SC, the Ronald McDonald House and the Siemen Center.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tommy Rollins and wife, Candy of Great Falls, SC, Sammy Rollins and wife, Sue of Northfield, MN, Susan Flake and husband, Kim of Wadesboro and Jeffrey Rollins and wife, Lesia of Monroe; her step-children, Sally Hartsell, Annette Rawls and Shawn Wallace; her grandchildren, Melissa Buss (Brad), Karen McElroy (Mark) , Monica Miller (Jason), Shannon Marion (Douglas), Justin Rollins (Beth), Stacy Little (Rick) and Jamie Sorenson (Colton); her great-grandchildren, Amanda Buss, Jessa Buss, Branson Miller, Lucy Miller, Elly Miller, Clay McElroy, Lacy McElroy, Gracie Marion, Paxton Rollins, Drake Little and Grady Little; her step-grandchildren, Adam Wallace, Sarah Martino, and Georganna Elkins; and many special nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Luther George Wallace; her golden child and fur baby, Buster and her four sisters and seven brothers.
Maxine will be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, and mother-in-law. Her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior.
