LILESVILLE – On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Mrs. Minnie Lee Tarlton Poplin, 86, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
Minnie Lee was born May 19, 1938, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Joe Bennett Tarlton and the late Lucy Moore Tarlton Goodman. She retired from Wansona in Wadesboro as an inspector with more than 30 years of service.
She was a long-time member of Lilesville Baptist Church. She was well-known for her homemade biscuits, and everyone raved over them. Everyone expected her to make biscuits for meals at church. She loved everyone and always appreciated a good hug.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert L. Poplin, Jr. and Nancy Poplin Hildreth (Lindsey) both of Lilesville and Tina Poplin Cranford (Roy) of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Patricia Goodwin (Bubba) of Morven, Cheryl Yannette (Steve) of Waxhaw, Keshia Hildreth of Wadesboro, Kristy Poplin of Hamlet, Heather Poplin , Hollie White and Leslie Hildreth all of Lilesville, Kaysa Poplin of Rock Island, TN, Kim Hardy (Fred) of Peachland, Tiffany Maikowski of Chesterfield, SC and Adam Cranford of Morven; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers, Helena Hodgins of Rockingham, Dorothy “Ball” Singletary and Helen Bailey both of Wadesboro, Bill Tarlton of Palm Beach, FL and Donnie Tarlton of Morven.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Poplin, Sr.; her son, John Graham Poplin, her granddaughter, Marcia Hildreth Meachum and by her brother and sister, Joe Tarlton and Katie Webb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 NC US 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
