LILESVILLE - Mrs. Mittie Boggan Moen, 86, died Friday, June 1, 2012 in Wichita, KS.
A graveside service will be 2:00pm Friday, June 15, 2012 in the Boggan Family Cemetery, which is in the former Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery located in the Pee Dee Community of Lilesville on Pitt Road at HWY 145.
Mittie was born June 7, 1925 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Clayton A. and Harold Russell Boggan and was always proud to be from Anson County and wanted her cremains interred in the cemetery with her family.
A 1942 graduate of Lilesville High School, she was also a graduate of Flora McDonald College with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in education. She also earned a double major in primary education and had taught both Home Economics and Primary Education. She retired from Kansas Public Schools and was active in various civic and educational associations.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Thomas Wade Chapter in Wadesboro (now the Craighead-Wade Chapter) and was a direct descendant of Patrick Boggan, one of the founders of Wadesboro.
Surviving are her children, Karen Johnston of Kansas City, KS, Janice Reed of Miami, FL, John Moen and Eric Moen both of Wichita, KS; her brother, Clayton A. Boggan, Jr. of Winston-Salem and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anson County Historical Society, 206 East Wade St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
