Polkton Mrs. Myrtle King Meeks, 96, died Friday, August 11, 2017, at Anson Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery in Polkton. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Born in Morven, NC on March 10, 1921, Myrtle was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Janie Mae Williamson King. She graduated from Polkton High School and worked a number of years as a Nurses Aide. She was married to Owen Steven Meeks who preceded her in death in 1972. Myrtle was also preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and a son, Butch.
Survivors include three children, O.P. "Buck" Meeks (Sharon) of Peachland, H. "Jack" Meeks (Shirley) of Polkton, and Carol Meeks Poston of Rockingham; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The family offers their heartfelt thanks to Anson Health and Rehabilitation, Meadowview Assisted Living, and to Hospice of Union County for the loving care given to their mother while she was in their care.
