Naomi Helms Meachum

Mrs. Naomi Helms Meachum, 89, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Lillie Bennett Nursing Center. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church, Lilesville with Rev. Curtis Williams and Rev. George Senter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the church on Sunday beginning at 2:00pm until time for the service. Naomi was born November 21, 1921 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late William Oscar 'Bud' Helms and the late Martha Hildreth Helms. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church, Lilesville. Surviving are her children, Cecil (Brenda) Meachum and Jerry (Debbie) Meachum both of Wadesboro and Martha (Jerry) Henry and Helen (Fred) Sellers both of Lilesville; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Ann Crook of Peachland, Kay Plyler of Gastonia, Bonnie Pratt and Bobby Helms both of Morven, Esta Prosser of Wallace, NC, Lacy Helms of Wagram and Oscar Helms of Carnesville, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas Meachum and by her children, Joyce Henry, Nancy Treadaway, Linda Funderburke, Betty Lou Funderburke, Debbie Ramsey and Louise Bowman.
