Nellie Mae Wilson

Lilesville - Nellie Mae Wilson, 88, departed her life early Sunday morning, June 25th, 2017, at the home of her oldest son in Hamlet, N.C. Nellie was born July 19, 1928 to the late Al and Goldie Harris. She was educated in the Anson County Public Schools. She married the late George W. Wilson Sr., US Army Retired with over 43 years of marriage. They enjoyed the military lifestyle, traveling to various parts of the world, and building a loving family. Nellie (aka Spook) loved cooking, watching Soap Operas, Law & Order, The Golden Girls and attending athletic events her children participated in throughout their school years and being a loving homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter Angela Wilson of Augusta, GA and eight sons, Leverne T. (Gurnell) Harris of Hamlet, N.C., George (Daisy) Wilson of Fayetteville, N.C., Leroy Wilson of Lilesville, N.C., Frederick (Polly) Wilson of Woodbridge, VA., Jackie (Cassie) Wilson of Ansonville, N.C., Maurice (Carolyn) Wilson of Leland, N.C., Clifford Wilson of Ansonville N.C. and Kenneth Wilson of Brandywine MD. Also surviving are her beloved sisters and brother, Bernice Wall, Mary (Lewitt) Melton, Terry Harris of Wadesboro, N.C. and Bobbie (Alvin) Patterson of Salisbury, N.C.; 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Theodore, Alfonza, Robert and Tommy Harris, also sisters Dorothy Mae Smith, Betty Lee and Eliza Grace. The family would like to extend a special acknowledgment and huge thank you to Pop and Gurnell Harris for providing a loving, caring and attentive home to Mom.The family would also like to thank Liberty Home Care and Hospice for their care for Nellie Mae. Services will be 11:00am Thursday, June 29, 2017 by the graveside in Westview Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 7:00pm Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Leavitt Funeral Home.
