LILESVILLE - On Monday, December 16, 2024, Mr. Nelson Banks Tatro, 63, brother, uncle, cherished friend, and most of all a child of God, passed away peacefully at Wadesboro Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.
There will be a service to celebrate Nelson's life at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery beside his mother.
Nelson was born June 25, 1961, in Rutland, MA, and was a son of the late George Robert Tatro and the late Mildred Knotts Tatro. He attended Anson County School and worked as a stocker with Whit's Convenience Store in Lilesville.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and also attended Gum Springs Baptist Church and Lilesville Baptist Church with his friends. He often volunteered to help vacation Bible schools in the area churches of Lilesville.
Nelson loved being a part of the Town of Lilesville and would do anything to help anyone. He loved spending time with his friends and participating in their family celebrations. He was a friend to all and loved all things church.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sister, David, Robert, and Paul Tatro and Beverly Macy; his nieces and nephews and their families and his friends who were his family too, Lynn and Steve Whitlock and family, Tega and Jody Taylor and family and Lori and Mike Ingram and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Stephen.
Because of Nelson's love for children, Christmas, and the town of Lilesville, it is suggested memorials be made to support Lilesville's annual giving tree for children to do so, please make checks payable to Tega Taylor, 150 Briarpatch Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091.
