LILESVILLE - Early in the morning on Thursday, November 16, 2023, Mrs. Netter “Nette” Ruth Tyson Kendall, slept away at Beacon Place, Greensboro, NC.
Netter “Nette” Ruth Tyson Kendall was born June 18, 1938, in Wadesboro, NC, the fifth daughter of seven to the late John and Easter Georgianna Forte Tyson. She attended Anson County Public Schools and graduated from Henry Grove School.
She worked in manufacturing as a seamstress most of her life. She retired from Unity Knitting Mills in Wadesboro after working more than 25 years of service. Netter was a faithful member of Parsons Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Lilesville, and served on the Church Hospitality Team until her health declined.
Netter braved the pretty blue sky and took her first airplane flight in September 2019 to Atlanta, GA. You always knew where you stood with Netter. She did not tolerate “frenemies,” foolishness or mess. Her sense of humor, laughter, love, and frankness will be missed.
Along with Netter’s parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harris Kendall; four sisters: Alice Mae Maxwell, Pauline Tyson, Elizabeth (Hobert, Jr.) Merritt and Minnie Viola Montgomery; a special niece, Corlis Amelia Tyson; grandson, Kelvin Lewis Tyson and great-granddaughter, Sherri Denise Byrd.
Those left to cherish her memory are her only daughter, Carolyn Tyson Irving of the home; two sons, Melvin Tyson, and James Tyson (Tynetta Harris); two special daughters-in-law, Rena Tyson, and Timika Tyson; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Easter Georgianna Allen, and Mary Ricks; three brothers-in-law, Robert ‘Man’ Montgomery, Timothy (Willie) Kendall, and Harvey ‘Sonny’ Kendall; a special son, Nicholas Spencer, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 19, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Parson Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
