WADESBORO Mrs. Nezzie Williams Newton, 91, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Ambassador Rehabilitation and Health Care in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Wadesboro Church of God with Rev. Sam Abee officiating. Interment will follow in Jowers Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Nezzie was born May 18, 1926 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late James Ellis Williams and the late Armatine Bailey Williams. She had worked for many years for Woods Five and Dime Store and retired as the manager of Super Dollar in Wadesboro. Nezzie was a devoted member of the Wadesboro Church of God and was faithful to the church until her health declined. Surviving are her children, Diane Moore of McFarlan and Dr. Ray (Pam) Newton, Jr. of Kingsport, TN; her grandchildren, James (Monica) Moore of Wadesboro, Jerry (Traci) Moore of Rockingham, Melissa (Aaron) Taylor and Andrea Self both of Kingsport, TN; 9 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sister, Alvin Williams and Ray Williams both of Rockingham, Laverne Williams and James Williams both of Thomasville and Allie Newton of Wadesboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Dan Williams, Anson Williams, Grady Williams, John Williams, Robert Williams, Sallie Battaglia, Minnie Shankle, Elmyra Funderburke and Mary Lou Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wadesboro Church of God, 809 N. Greene St., Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
