ROCKINGHAM - Mrs. Odessa Goodwin Williams, 90, met her Savior face to face and joined many loved ones in heaven on Friday, December 20, 2013 while a resident at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 3:00PM, Monday, December 23, 2013 at The Church of God of Prophecy, East Rockingham with Rev. Steve Gilmer, Rev. Ken Shipley and Rev. Fred Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm on Monday and other times at the home.
Odessa was born October 17, 1923 in Richmond County, NC a daughter of the late William Miles Goodwin and the late Minnie Lee Barmer Goodwin. She had worked for many years at Aleo Manufacturing and later retired from Richmond Yarns and was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy for more than 40 years.
Surviving are her daughters, Hollie Mae Watts of Rockingham and Opal 'Bit' Parnell of Salisbury; her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Ken and Donna Shipley of Pinebluff; her grandchildren, Keith Grooms, who was her devoted caregiver, John T. 'Toby' (Darlene) Watts and Tonya (Gregg) Baldwin all of Rockingham, Rhonda (Darrell) McDonald of Cordova, Tammy (Bubba) Kirkley of Hamlet, Kevin Grooms of Charlotte, Kelly (Robert) Luce of Maurepas, LA, Jeff Parnell, Jackie (Mike) Molenda, Joan (Scott) Correll, and Tracey (Bobby) Wagner all of Salisbury; 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James E.'Jake' Williams; her daughter, Faye Martin and by her brothers and sisters, Ben, Woodrow, Neal, Carson, Tracy and Jim Goodwin, Lula Williams, Pearl Campbell, Gladys Langley, Bernice Vuncannon and Ollie Mae Williams.
