Wadesboro Olin S. Anderson, "Lin", 74, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, November 29, 2017.
A service with Military Honors will be held this Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Forestville United Methodist Church in Lilesville. Following the service, please join the family in a "Celebration of Life and Visitation" at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro through 2:00 p.m.
Born in Raleigh, NC on May 3, 1943, Lin is the son of the late Olin S. and Bernice Parker Anderson. He graduated from Anson High School in 1961 and NC State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.
Lin married his high school sweetheart, Carroll Capell in 1967 and they moved to Vacaville, CA. Lin was stationed with the USAF 75th Military Airlift Command as a C-141 Pilot for 5 years of the Vietnam War. Captain Anderson flew out of Travis Air Force Base and was awarded the "No PAC 1 - 100 Missions" metal among others. In 1972, Lin and Carroll made their home in San Diego, CA where he flew for Pacific Southwest Airlines.
In 1980, Lin and Carroll returned to Wadesboro to operate the Capell family business, Carls Food Center. After Carls burned, they rebuilt and operated the grocery business until 1985. Lin joined Selectronics with his vast engineering and mechanical background from growing up at Blewett Falls hydroelectric plant.
In 1995, he joined Carroll at Anderson Real Estate where they treasured working side by side as Brokers for the last 22 years.
Lins passions included flying and water skiing at Blewett Falls Lake, even over the 2017 summer! Every day his life showed his genuine love for his family, country and ALL mankind.
Lin served as President of the Wadesboro Rotary Club 92-93 being honored twice with the International Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award.
He was preceded in death by his father, Olin S. Anderson, mother Bernice Parker Anderson, and brother, Richard "Dick" Parker Anderson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Carroll Capell Anderson; two children, Rye Anderson Myers (Husband: Eddie) of West Melbourne, FL; and Dru Capell Anderson (Wife: Kristin) of Lilesville, NC; 4 grandchildren with one additional expected blessing; Ali Payton (8) and Avery Caylor Myers (6), Braelyn Selah (3), Hayden Jon Anderson (2); sister, Rebecca Anderson "Andy" Quindsland (Husband: Ivar) of Marietta, GA.
