WADESBORO - On Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 8:34 in the morning, Pastor Donnie Gilford Morris, 68, heard the welcome words of his Lord and Savior, "Well done good and faithful servant, enter now into the joys of thy Lord.
There will be a service of worship celebrating Pastor Donnie's life and ministry at 12:00pm on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Peachland Gospel Tabernacle. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. (The service will be shared live on the Leavitt Funeral Home Facebook page.)
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday and other times at the home.
Donnie was born April 28, 1952 in Darlington County, SC and was a son of the late Clarence Mitchell Morris and the late Kathryn Elizabeth Hoffman Morris. He was a 1970 graduate of Southside High School.
He was employed with Anson Machine Works in Polkton as a driver and served as Associate Pastor of Peachland Gospel Tabernacle.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 17 years, Judith Rebekah Blount Morris; his step-children, Michael Phelps and Jennifer Phelps both of Hartsville, SC; his step-grandchildren, Bryson Phelps and Kylie Kirk; his brother and sisters, Michael Morris (Martha) and Denise Stephens (Marion Baker) all of Florence, SC and Barbara Calder (Willie) of Effingham, SC and his nieces and nephews and their families.
Donnie will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and a true man of God who cared for others. A gentle giant, he would always encourage others and visit those who were sick. He was a man of honor and integrity and indeed he lived his Christian faith before his fellow man. He dearly loved his family and friends and truly loved children.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time spent hunting and fishing.
