Mr. Paul Early Wyche, Jr., 61, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Hospice in Union County, Monroe. Masonic services by the graveside in Tranquility Cemetery, Oxford, NC will be Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 3:00pm. The family will greet friends Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home. Paul was born January 17, 1950 in Mecklenburg County, NC a son of the late Paul Early Wyche and Jo Daniel Wyche Bumgarner. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War and while in the Navy he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and worked as a construction engineer for many years and later as an engineering consultant. He was instrumental in the construction of the new Wadesboro Air Port. He was a member of the Charles M. Setzer Masonic Lodge # 0693 in Charlotte. One his favorite hobbies was amateur radios and he was known among his radio friends as 'The Hoo Man'. Surviving are his wife, Tina Carver Wyche of the home; his children, Jon Wyche of Shelbyville, TN and Cara Hall of Raleigh; his brother, Nick Wyche of Stanley, NC; his grandchild; his aunts, Frances Slossberg of Spartanburg, SC, Emma Hayes-Burke of Milwaukee, WI and Bettye Moon of Lynchburg, VA and his cousin, Anne Meehan. Also surviving are his father and mother-in-laws, Robert and Shirley Carver of Dallas and Jeffrey Carver of Bessemer City and Mike Carver of Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
