Pauline Maree Pope

WADESBORO - On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Mrs. Pauline Maree Pope, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away at Olive Branch Family Care Home in Marshville. Although the hearts of her family are saddened by her passing, the beautiful reality of comfort and hope is that she has been reunited with her loving husband, Brad, daughter, Paula, son-in-law, Teddy, and many of her brothers and sisters.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 23, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swarengin officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.

Inurnment will be later at Red Hill Baptist Church.

Pauline was born September 6, 1933, in Anson County, NC, and was a daughter of the late James Edward Maree and the late Bessie Jane Butler Maree. She was a graduate of Wadesboro High School and retired from Anson County Hospital as housekeeping supervisor.

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Tara Shumard (Jeff) and Ted Stegall (Nicole) both of Marshville; her great-grandchildren, Jackson Shumard, Grayson Shumard, Bradley Stegall, and Lillian Stegall; her brothers, Allen Maree of Rockingham and Claude Maree (Vivian) of Wadesboro; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Shasta Pope and Frank Pope both of Ansonville,  Grace Pope (David) Pope of Nashville and Ann Pope of Winston-Salem and her nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, husband, daughter, and son-in-law, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Pansy Baker, Faye Gregory, Magdalene Williams, Thomas Maree, and James Maree.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Faithful Generations, P.O. Box 667, Marshville, NC 28103.
