Wadesboro - Mrs. Peggy Mayhew James, 77, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Hunter,Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00PM on Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home. Peggy was born in Iredell County on June 9, 1934, a daughter of the late Oscar O. and Estelle Barnes Mayhew. A faithful member of First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School for over fifty years and more recently served as a deacon for the church. She retired in 2000 from J.B. Watson & Co. with forty-nine years of service. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie B. James and step-father, George R. 'Grouchy' Davis. Survivors include her son, Derek (Robbie) James of Wadesboro and two grandchildren, Macy and Sally James. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 423,Wadesboro, NC 28170.
