WADESBORO – Mr. Ralph Delma Dawkins, age 90, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at his home.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at a later time due to Covid-19.
Delma was born September 18, 1929 in Anson County, NC, a son of the late David Bryant “DB” Dawkins and Hester Lillian Mowery Dawkins. Following his high school graduation, he was drafted into the US Marine Corp where he served honorably for two years. Upon his return home, Delma went to work at Wade Mill where he worked without missing a day for 44 years! He and his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Grooms Dawkins, were both active members at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church until failing health prevented them from going.
Survivors include his son, Tad Dawkins of Ansonville; his grandchildren, Alisha Christmas (Donald) of Wilmington and Lisa McDonald (Brian) of Ashburn, VA; his great-grandchildren, Jullian “JuJu” Dawkins, Christopher Christmas, Garland Christmas, Wyatt McDonald and Harper McDonald; and his sister, Ruby D. Desper of Richmond, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Dawkins, Jr.; a brother, D.B. Dawkins, Jr.; and a sister, Frances D. Benton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 3373 Country Club Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
