WADESBORO - On Thursday, March 23, 2023, Rev. Ruth Deese Charlton, 95. went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2023 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born May 10, 1927 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Edward Deese and the late Mary Ann Block Deese. She completed high school in Anson County and worked for many years with West Knitting Mills, retiring as an inspector.
Rev. Charlton was a member of Calvary Crusade Tabernacle in Rockingham for more than 50 years and she has served the church as pastor. She lived a life of deep rooted faith and service to others. Her life was indeed a witness of God's unconditional love for others.
She enjoyed spending time in her yard during the springtime and summertime. She grew more than 30 azaleas and purple iris' throughout her yard. She loved spending time admiring God's beauty in the flowers she grew.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Betty Jo Charlton of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Tony Prevatte of Ocean Isle, Sherry Powell of Peachland, Randy Prevatte and Kim Prevatte both of Wadesboro, Tammy Shaw, Jamie Charlton and Tina Turpin all of Hartsville, SC, Gerald Charlton, Eddie Charlton, Winslow Charlton and Emily Thomas; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and close friends, including Loretta Oliver and Betty Jean Bailey who were a special part of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Charlton; her children, Jimmy Charlton, Edd Charlton and Margaret Prevatte and her brothers and sisters, Lockhart Deese, Ben Deese, Robert Deese, Melvin Deese, June Deese, Peggy Tyson, Bertha Deese and Martha Deese.
The family is grateful to the staff of Wadesboro Health and Rehab and Community Home Care and Hospice for all that was done for Ruth while in their care.
