Robert McRae Mac Benton

WADESBORO - Mr. Robert McRae Mac Benton, 61, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe. There will be a memorial service at 4:00pm Monday, February 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service. There will be a private inurnment in Eastview Cemetery at a later date. Mac was born May 24, 1955 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Henry Clay Benton and the late Dorothy McRae Benton. He worked as a Supervisor at the Anson County Waste Water Treatment Plant. Surviving are his wife, Karla Carpenter Benton of the home; his brother and sisters, Henry Clay Benton, Jr. and wife, Dianne of Angier, Jan Benton of Myrtle Beach, SC and Dorothy Ann Inman and husband, Billy of Hamlet; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Sue Carpenter of Ansonville; sister-in-law, Kay Smith and husband, Mark of Oakboro; his brother-in-law, Steve Carpenter, Jr. and wife, Nichole Carpenter of Ansonville and his nieces and nephews and their families. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Suite 810, Charlotte, NC 28209. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
