WADESBORO – Mr. Robert Thomas Carpenter, 80, died Thursday, May 21, 2020 at McWhorter House at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Bobby was born March 11, 1940 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Lester Washington Carpenter and the late Lula Jane Harrington Carpenter. He worked for more than 40 years with Little Cotton Manufacturing as the Maintenance Supervisor and for a brief period at Wade Manufacturing. Surviving are his son, Robbie Carpenter (Melissa Johnson) of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Mitchell Sutton, Colton Sutton and Harleigh Johnson all of Wadesboro; his brothers and sisters, Frank Carpenter, Dan Carpenter, Harvey Carpenter and Mert Kilbaine all of Lilesville, Lib Simpson of Bluffton, SC and Jean Pruitt of Gaffney, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Powell Carpenter and his sister and brother, Marilene Morris and Freddy Carpenter. Services will be at 3:00pm Saturday, May 23, 2020 by the graveside in Anson Memorial Park with Rev. Barry Gerald officiating. Social distance mandates will apply The family will receive friends at Leavitt Funeral Home Saturday from 2:00pm until 2:45pm prior to the service, with no more than 10 people visiting at a time and social distance mandates will apply. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
