Robert Eugene Bob Mr. Bowers

Wadesboro - Well known town character, Mr. Robert Eugene 'Bob' Bowers, 80, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Hospice of Union County following a stroke on May 15th at his home on Burnsville Street. Graveside services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, June 4th in Eastview Cemetery. Bob was born in Wadesboro on August 15, 1933, a son of the late Lee and Nellie Duke Bowers. He worked at Little Cotton Mfg. for nineteen years after which he began his second career; walking around town. Bob had a regular walking route that extended as far as Walmart at one time but which eventually dwindled to the bench in front of H.W. Little & Co. and Wadesboro IGA. He was a town fixture and will be missed. Survivors include a number of cousins including his special cousin, Brenda Bowers of Wadesboro. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Pete Bowers. Special gratitude is extended to Hospice of Union County for their professional, compassionate care of Bob. Their support is greatly appreciated by his family members.
