Wadesboro Mr. Robert Fredrick "Freddy" Kendall, 81, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday in North Wadesboro Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Freddy was born in Anson County on February 25, 1938, a son of the late John Fredrick and Ida Mae Gilmore Kendall. He was educated in the local school system and later attended Pfeiffer College. Early on, Freddy worked several years as a funeral director for Leavitt Funeral Home before embarking on a career in law enforcement. He began as a patrolman with the Wadesboro Police Department rising through the ranks and finally retiring after serving many years as the Chief of Police. In addition to law enforcement, Freddy enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Treadaway Kendall of the home; a son, Robert Todd Kendall (Debbie) of Wadesboro; three grandchildren, Jonathan Ian "Bo" Kendall (Melodie Hezbor), Casey Kendall, and Dakota Kendall; and two great-grandchildren, Calia Rain and Ian Hatok.
Also surviving is one brother, Larry Kendall (Katherine) of Wadesboro; two sisters, Shirley Gaddy (Albert) of Matthews, and Sandra Ricketts (Jerry) of Lilesville; and a very special four-legged German Shepherd companion, Joe.
Freddy was preceded in death by a son, Scott Kendall.
