Rosa Mae Taylor Mrs. Wright

POLKTON - Mrs. Rosa Mae Taylor Wright, 92, died on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Lillie Bennett Nursing Center in Wadesboro. Services will be 3:00pm Thursday, August 29, 2013 by the graveside in Griffin Cemetery with Rev. Arnold Jackson officiating. The family will greet friends any time at the home and following the service on Thursday. Rosa was born in Anson County, NC on January 12, 1921 the oldest of six children born to the late Rufus Willie Taylor and the late Eunice Odessa Baucom Taylor. She attended Oakdale Baptist Church and had worked for many years as a seamstress in the textile industry. Rosa, like her father, was an avid gardener with seldom a summer's day going by when Rosa was not in her garden, stringing beans, shucking corn, canning, freezing or in the blackberry patch. When not in the garden, she loved to cook. It was the rare day that any visitor in her home would not find a fresh pan of biscuits, ham, sausage and fried 'taters' with an open invitation to indulge. Rosa loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends, neighbors, her church and especially her Lord and Savior. Surviving is her only son, Roy C. (Barbara) Wright, Jr. of Polkton; three grandchildren' eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Tony and her sisters and brothers, Margaret Magdalene 'Maggie' (Sampson) Caudle, Martha Aileen (Guy) Martin, Josephine Blair 'Josie' (Everette) Baucom, Purtie Lee (Norma) Taylor and Willie Curtis (Jo) Taylor. Memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, 3304 HWY 218, Polkton, NC 28135 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfuneralhomewadesboro.com
