WADESBORO - God Has Smiled On Me: Rudolph 'Rufus' Steward was born April 12, 1932 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Gaston and Lizzie Huntley Steward. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro, NC.
Rufus was a member of Free Rock Church. He loved singing and making others laugh. 'Ham Right' He had worked for a number of years at McLeod Box Factory and later at Edwards Wood Products.
He will be missed by his children, Barbara Clark, Eddie (Carolyn) Steward, Johnny (Sarah) Stewart, Lorraine Steward-Ayers, Jolisa Stewart and stepdaughter, Charlene (Michael) Swan; his son-in-law, Rev. Parsons; his sisters, Elizabeth Woods and Ruby (David) Kirby; his brothers, Alexander Steward and Gene (Sharon) Steward; 8 brothers.
He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relative and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Dorothy Parsons and Ruby Steward, grandson, Kelvin Clark and sisters and brothers, Mary Sturdivant, Agnes Parsons, Edna Teal, J.B. Steward, Robin Steward, Clint Steward, Charles Steward, James Steward, Freddy Ross Steward, Alonzo Steward and William Steward.

Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Brown and Rev. Edward Leak officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Park.
