ANSONVILLE – On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Mrs. Ruth Ann Biles Pope, 72, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend went to be with her Lord. Funeral services will be 12:00pm Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Red Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Clements officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday, May 7, 2021 at Leavitt Funeral Home. Ruth Ann was born January 13, 1949 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Hoyle Junior Biles and Ruth Clementine Watkins Biles. She retired from Anson County Cooperative Extension as an administrative assistant. She was an active and faithful member of Red Hill Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and played handbells, taught Sunday School, and served on the flower and cemetery committees. Ruth Ann loved plants and flowers and once owned the Sugartown Shoppe Florist in Polkton. She was often called on by her family and friends to help with flowers, making wreaths and bows long after she closed her florist. Another one of her hobbies was making pottery, many homes are blessed by pieces of Pope’s Pottery. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Frank Pope; her sons, Brent Pope and wife, Jennifer of Norwood and Tracy Pope of Conway, SC; her grandchildren, Lofton, Lani and Levi Pope all of Norwood; her brother, Danny Biles and wife, Carol of Ansonville; her sisters-in-law, Shasta Pope and husband, Irvin of Ansonville and Grace Pope and husband, David of Nashville and her nieces and nephews and their families, as well as, many cousins and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tamatha Pope, her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Arelene Hyatt and her niece and nephews, Jennifer Hyatt and Nick Biles. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 207, Ansonville, NC 28007.
