Ruth Denning Mrs. Morton

Morven - Ruth D. Morton, age 99, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Memorial services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home with visitation following the service. Ruth was born on February 18, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Earl and the late Helen Denning. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Morton Sr. in 1974 and by a son, Henry H. 'Punky' Morton Jr. on December 24, 2008. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Bourassa and her husband, Gerry of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Terrence Morton Sr. of Mooresville; a daughter-in-law, Christine Morton of Wadesboro; seven grandchildren, Dr. Terrence Morton and wife Lorrie, Mark Morton, Greg Morton and wife Kim, all of Mooresville, Stephen Coggin Sr. and wife Lisa, Christie Caldwell and husband Kevin, of Greensboro, Jeff Coggin and wife Heather of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Philip Coggin and wife Pam of Myrtle Beach, SC; thirteen great-grandchildren, seven step- grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Grace Johnston of St. Charles, Illinois. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Liberty Hospice and Mrs. Morton's caretakers for all of their kindness and love unselfishly given. Leavitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
