Ruth Griggs Short

WADESBORO - Mrs. Ruth Griggs Short, 90, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System Anson in Wadesboro. The family will greet friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Leavitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Anson Memorial Park. Ruth was born October 16, 1926 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late John C. Griggs and the late Ida Tucker Griggs. She was retired from Chesterfield Manufacturing and worked with her husband, the late William Short in their country store located in the Deep Creek Community. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Surviving are her son, Billy Short and wife, LuAnn of Wadesboro; her granddaughter, Kim Griffin and husband, Jeff of Wadesboro and her great-grandchildren, Parker, Natalee and Hannah. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Walter, J.C., Roy, Baxter, Geneva and Sara. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, % Elizabeth Tucker, 1338 Mayesville Rd., Morven, NC 28119. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
