WADESBORO - Mrs. Sara Ratliff Faulkner, 94, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Jesse Helms Center in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, May 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Wadesboro with Dr. Harry Workman and Dr. Fred Senter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Thursday in the church parlor.
Sara was born September 3, 1921 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late G.W. and Ethel Gulledge Ratliff. She was a 1943 graduate of Womans College now University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her teaching career was all in Anson County, having taught in both the public school system and Southview Academy. She also had a private kindergarten for several years.
Sara and her late husband, John, traveled many places in Europe and the United States for both business and pleasure.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro for Sunday school and worship services. She enjoyed the activities of the church family and circle meetings. She had also been a member of the Garden Club, Red Hat Club and was an avid bridge player.
Sara cherished and loved all her family, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She filled their lives with unconditional love and will always be remembered for her faith, courage and devotion to her family and friends.
Surviving are her son, Marion Stephen Faulkner of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Ron Faulkner and wife, Cherri, John Tyler Faulkner, Cory Faulkner, Andrew Faulkner and Daniel Faulkner; her great-grandchildren, Richard and Astrid Faulkner; and her many loving nieces and nephews and their families, as well as, many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Faulkner, sons, Bill Faulkner and Ronnie Faulkner, an infant granddaughter, brother, G.W. Ratliff and sisters, Helen Curlee and Margaret Marsh.
