Morven - Sara Louise Diggs Morgan Lamb, 91, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center -Union surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2015, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro, followed by interment at Morven Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Sara Louise was born June 6, 1924, in the Cairo community, daughter of the late L. Raymond Diggs and Euna E. Ratliff Diggs. She graduated from Morven High School in 1941, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper. She worked for 25 years at First National Bank, which later merged with Southern National Bank, at the Morven branch.
She was a lifetime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer for many years.
Sara Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was incredibly proud of her four sons and their families, and many meals were shared around her kitchen table, surrounded by laughter and bountiful meals. In addition, she was an avid gardener and bird watcher.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond (Barbara) Morgan, James (Brenda) Morgan, Ronald (Bonnie) Morgan, and Randall Morgan, all of the Morven community. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Scott Morgan of Mint Hill; Lisa (Brian) Moore of Wilmington; Kristie (Kirk) Wallace, of Norwood; David (Andrea) Morgan of Banner Elk; Ryan (Amanda) Morgan of Morven; and Emily (Kevin) Lastowski, of Dade City, Florida. Surviving great-grandchildren are Megan, Lindsay, and McKenzie Morgan; Gregory and Hannah Moore; Anna, Abbey, and John Wallace; Josh Morgan, Grace Morgan, and Cason Lastowski. Surviving great-great grandchild is Anne Marie Stewart. In addition she is survived by her brother, Haywood (Louise) Diggs of Morven. Also surviving is a special friend, Charles Riddle, of Wadesboro.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ervin Morgan, and her second husband, Dixon Lamb; her brother, Carlyle Diggs, and her great-granddaughter, Morgan Lastowski.
