Sara Louise "Sis" Clark Downer

LILESVILLE - On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Mrs. Sara Louise "Sis" Clark Downer, 86, passed away at her home.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Savannah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Mr. Ken Caulder officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service at the Forestville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Lilesville.

Sis was born September 8, 1938 in Anson County, NC and was the daughter of the late James Alexander "Boot" Clark and the late Clara Mae Hildreth Clark. She was a 1956 graduate of Lilesville High School and was retired from Carolina Apparel Group in Wadesboro.

She was a life-long member of Forestville United Methodist Church where she was active in the ministries of the church to include, singing in the choir, Sunday school teacher for both the children and senior adults, and serving as a lay speaker. She dearly loved her church and church family and this was a vital part of her life.

Sis enjoyed family trips to the beach and fishing. After her husband retired, they often enjoyed trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for fishing.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Mickey (Tesa) Downer, Adam (Tina Lampley) Downer and Terri (Dennis) Goodwin all of Lilesville; her grandchildren, Mandy Ivey, Melissa (Gary) Lear, Kayla Downer, Tyler Downer, Heidi (Jeremy) Edwards, Mack (Anna Liles) Goodwin, and Kristin (Richard) Buff; her great-grandchildren, Cameron Dial, Wesley Lear, Nate Lear, Sarah Buff and Maston Buff and her sister-in-law, Joanne Clark.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Adam Downer, Jr., her daughter, Katherine Dianne Downer and her brother, James A. "Jim" Clark, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forestville United Methodist Church, c/o, Joanne Clark, 1781 Clark Mtn. Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091.
