Mrs. Sara 'Sally' Ellen Krause Maner, 95, peacefully passed away in Meadowview Terrace of Wadesboro, N.C,m on Wednesday, July 27, 2011.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Rollins officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Sally (Sara's nickname) was born in Lebanon, Pa., on April 18, 1916, a daughter of the late George Franklin Krause and Katherine Boyer Krause. She graduated from high school in Lebanon, Pa., attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., and graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. She taught home economics in Ansonville, N.C., where she met and later married James Fleetwood Maner on June 20, 1939, in Mt. Gretna, Pa. Sally was a beloved and highly respected member of Wadesboro and the surrounding community and assisted Fleet in the bookkeeping duties for the Maner & Murray Grocery Store for many years.
She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Wadesboro, taught Sunday school and led Bible studies for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Pierce of Raleigh; two sons, James F. 'Jimmy' Maner, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, of Williamston and Andrew F. 'Andy' Maner and his wife, Georgia, of Wadesboro; grandchildren, Trahey Maner and wife Lauren of Nags Head, Kristofer Johnston and husband Fletcher of Cape Carteret, Ashley Tonidandel and husband Scott of Winston-Salem, Drew Maner of Charlotte, and Brett Brackett and wife Dane of Raleigh; and great-grandchildren Daniel and Aaron Brackett, Oscar, Simon and Celia Tonidandel, and Ward, Johnston, Amelia and Annie Maner.
Also surviving is a brother, Andrew Krause of Vero Beach, Fla., and a sister, Louise K. Koonz of Lebanon, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fleet, and a son, Jeffrey Nelson Maner.
The family offers special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Meadowview Terrace and Hospice of Union County for their loving service, and to all her friends and neighbors whom she cherished.
