WADESBORO – On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Mrs. Sharlie Rosa Faye Pannell Pond, 75, passed away at her home.
She was born December 23, 1947 in Kansas City, MO and was a daughter of the late Manchester Cecil Pannell and the late Rosalie Hart Pannell. She was born and raised on a ranch in Kansas City, MO and later spent time with her brothers and sisters in Albuquerque, NM.
She worked alongside her husband, with the Atlantic Institute of Education in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Laura Lynne Burns (Michael John); her son, Sean Rueben Pond (Taunya Stephens); her grandchildren, Eugene Marcus Pond, Alexandra Haley Remson, Hannah Elizabeth Cowdell, Brooke Grabriella Burns and William Pond; her great-grandson, Ralph Theodore Wake; and her brother and sisters, Joe Espenoza, Nina Blondell, Laura Devarennes, Theresa Espenoza and Alice Espenoza.
Also, Miss Rose as she preferred to be called, is survived by her extended adopted family of whom she loved very much, Bonita Bartlett and her children, Cassandra Cloyd and Cole Cloyd.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Morton Pond, Jr. and her brother, Ray Pannell.
She was an avid gardener, she loved flowers and had planted pineapple trees, snake plants and aloe plants for her daughter in Hawaii. She was a gifted artist who could paint and draw most anything. She found much of her artistic inspiration from her time spent in Nova Scotia, which she loved. She could simply make anything artistic out of anything she had on hand.
The family suggests memorials be made to Anson County Homes of Hope, P.O. Box 205, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
