WADESBORO - Mr. Shelton Bennett 'Ben' Faulkner, 79, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Wadesboro with Dr. Robert Hunter and his son-in-law, Dr. Van Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends tonight (Tuesday) from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Ben was born June 26, 1933 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Horace Franklin and Fannie Elizabeth Honeycutt Faulkner. He was a graduate of Wadesboro High School and Catawba College and was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict.
He had a long and productive career in banking, having begun with First National Bank of Wadesboro, which changed to Southern National Bank, thus retiring from Branch Bank and Trust Company. A member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro, he was a member of the Special Interest Sunday School Class and the Anticipators.
Surviving are his children, Shelton Faulkner and wife, Charity of Lilesville, Jeff Faulkner and wife, Maria of Cheraw, SC and Ann Lankford and husband, Van of Mocksville, NC; his grandchildren, Jason Faulkner of Lilesville, Lauren Faulkner Howell and husband, Eric of Wadesboro, Molly Lankford and Evan Lankford both of Mocksville and Brett Burnett and Eric Burnett both of Cheraw, SC and his great-grandson, Bryson of Wadesboro and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mack Davis and Irene Davis Seago both of Wadesboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen Davis Faulkner and by his sisters and brothers, Myrtle Usrey, Ruth Davis, Horace 'June', Jim, Bob and Bruce Faulkner.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Gary Henry and Dr. Victoria Rommel for their dedication and medical care given and to the staff at both Ambassador Health and Rehab and Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living for the high level of care and compassion shown to Ben while he was a resident with them.
