Shirley Schumaker Short

MORVEN – Mrs. Shirley Schumaker Short, 82, died Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Novant Mint Hill Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stacey Lundy officiating.

Shirley was born November 8,1938 in Ahoski, NC and was a daughter of the late Charlie James Schumaker and the late Margaret Clair York Schumaker.

She was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and Charlotte Business College, which is now Queen’s College. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Chuck Short and wife, Robin of Monroe and Robert Short of Morven and her grandson, Scott Short of Monroe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Short.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union County Hospice, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
