Sue Thompson Lampley

CHARLOTTE Mrs.. Mary Susan "Sue" Thompson Lampley, 88, of Charlotte and formerly of Lilesville died Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Presbyterian Novant Health in Charlotte. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Sue was born August 5, 1929 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Ernest Allen Thompson, Sr. and the late Annie Elizabeth Newton Thompson. She was a graduate of Lilesville High School Class of 1947, where she was salutatorian and was retired as bookkeeper for the Hartford Company in Charlotte. Surviving are her children, Timothy Richard Lampley of Charlotte and Dora Janette Lampley of Georgia; her grandchildren, Jennifer Salter and Mary Beth Salter both of Georgia; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth T. "Libby" Foust of Siler City; her sister-in-law, Helen J. Thompson of Rockingham; her nephew and niece, John Foust, Jr. of Siler City and Dede Ashcraft of Lugoff, SC and her great-nephews, Jordan and Joseph Ashcraft both of Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bennett Lampley; daughter, Laura Annette Lampley and brothers and sister, Ernest A. "Bubby" Thompson, Jr., John Franklin Thompson and Laura Elaine Thompson. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She cherished many long lasting friendships and was always baking cakes to share with those she loved. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lilesville Cemetery, % Donna McAllister, P.O.
