POLKTON - Mrs. Tamara 'Tammy' Peterson Eckersley, 56, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident.
There will be a memorial service at 6:00pm Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Deep Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Phillips officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
There will also be a memorial service at Kings Grant Fellowship Church in Portsmouth, RI on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
She was born November 8, 1958 in Brockton, MA a daughter of the Barbara Holyoke Peterson Tucker and the late Wayne Everette Peterson.
Tammy was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church, where she served as a teacher for the Kings Kids. She dearly loved her church family.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She especially loved her grandchildren and was Nannie to them and many other children she loved. She also enjoyed flowers and going to yard sales.
Surviving are her husband, Wilfred 'Wil' Ekersley, III of the home; her children, Timothy (Morgan) Eckersley of Polkton, Rachael (Ian) Stone and Jessica (Kimsoeuth) Veth both of Porstmouth, RI and Wilfred Eckersley, IV of New Port, RI; her grandchildren, Hannah, Emma and Ian Stone, Peyton, Raina and Drew Eckersley, Kaylee McGowan, and Mara and Corey Veth.
Also surviving are her mother and step-father, Barbara and Richard Tucker of Lexington Park, MD ; her brothers, Wayne (Cindy) Peterson of Middleboro, MA, Steve (Jackie) Peterson and Glenn (Lisa) Peterson both of Portsmouth, RI, Michael (Hope) Peterson of Tiverton, RI, John (Lisa) Peterson of Mechanicsburg, PA, Richard Peterson of China Lake, ME, Robert Peterson of Polkton and Jamie Peterson of Coco Beach, FL; her sister-in-law, Suzanne (Michael) Barry of Portsmouth, RI and her nieces and nephews and their families.
