Lilesville - Ms. Teresa Hammond Harris, also known as, "Ms. Jackson" was born June 18, 1966 in Union County, North Carolina and was a daughter of Maggie Sturdivant Hammond and the late Coy Madison Hammond. She departed her life on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center Union at the age of 51.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Coy Lee Hammond, Thomas Hammond and Lisa Ann Hammond and by a special friend, John David Pickett.
She was a 1984 graduate of Bowman High School. She worked for a number of years with Tyson Foods and other poultry facilities until declining health and she then became a homemaker.
Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Harris (Jeffery Willoughby), Sherika Pickett, Khadijah Pickett, and Constance Pickett all of Lilesvillle, North Carolina her son, Robbie Rakim Harris of Lilesville, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Jeffery Willoughby, Jr., Jacquez Willoughby, Mariah Massey, Ivyana Teal, and CMiyah Tillman; her sister and brothers, Eldis (Carl) Horton of Indian Trail, North Carolina, Dennis Hammond and Rodney Polk both of Wadesboro, North Carolina and Derik Hammond of Wingate, North Carolina; her sisters-in-law, Alice Hammond (Jonathon) Clegg ), Effie (Everette) Williams and Rosalyn Harris all of Wadesboro, North Carolina; her brothers-in-law, Vernon Lee Harris, Jermaine Harris and Grant (Laquita) Collins all of Wadesboro, North Carolina.
Also surviving are her former husband and great friends, Robbie Harris, Jr. and mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Forte and a host of nieces and nephews and their families and many cousins and other family members and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all who have called or visited during this time. A very special thanks to the staff at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe for the compassionate and professional care they provided for Teresa and family. Thank you to everyone for every act of kindness shown during our time of bereavement.
Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Christ Bible Discipleship Worship Center in Marshville. Interment will follow in Crossroads AME Zion Church Cemetery in Peachland.
Public viewing will be Saturday from 4:00pm untl 6:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home.
