LILESVILLE - Mr. Thomas Therrell Jones, 82, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Gum Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 7:30pm Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Therrell was born January6, 1933 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Charlie Hopson and Martha Burr Jones. He was retired from All Right Parking Services in Charlotte, a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sarah Gathings Jones of the home; his son, Harvey (Michelle) Jones of Concord; his grandchildren, Chris (Chasity) Jones of Kannapolis and Candice Jones of Claremont ; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Tyler, Bryson, Hannah, Kaleigh, Taylor, Billy and Makayla; and his brother and sister, Arthur (Frances) Jones of Indian Trail and Shirley (William) Brock of Hartsville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gum Springs Baptist Church, Youth Program, % Sarah Harrington, 1364 Haileys Ferry Road, Lilesville, NC 28091.
