In Loving Memory of Thomas Myles Reardon, SSgt. United States Marine Corps (Retired)
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Thomas Myles Reardon, our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and Friend. Tom was born January 15, 1958, in Toms River, New Jersey. He passed away peacefully, at home in Peachland, NC, on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Tom attended school in Plainview, Arkansas, where he graduated from Plainview-Rover High School. He made many friends during that time and always held these friendships dear. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an Avionics Technician. He was so proud to be a United States Marine and so proud to have served. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1990 and began his career in the civilian sector.
Upon entering civilian life, Tom worked as a Training and Technical Support Manager at Morris Material Handling (P&H), an instructor at Columbus McKinnon Corporation, and most recently at Engineered Systems. As he traveled the world, he formed many personal and professional relationships which have lasted a lifetime.
Tom married Tomiko Kihara, who preceded him in death. They are survived by two children: Daughter, Angie Poppe, and her son and daughter, Andrew Preston and Alexus Bell. Son, Ricky Poppe and his daughters, Alison (Alex), Kaitlyn (Jorge) Giron, and Eliana Ford. Son, Derrick (MaKenna). Tom is also survived by three brothers; Jack (Janice), Joe (Judy), Richard (Michelle), and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Nancy, and his brother Michael.
Tom was a quiet man who appreciated the peace and solitude of country living. He found joy in being outside, spending time with his dogs, taking road trips to his daughter’s home, and riding his ATV around his property. He was continually working on his photography skills; always striving for that perfect “photoshop” picture. He was good and loyal friend and could always be counted upon to be the “go to guy”. Tom attended Brown Creek Baptist Church.
There will be a memorial service with Military Honors, on Thursday, May 01, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, 2036 Morven Rd. Wadesboro, NC. Tom’s entombment will be later in Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens in Havelock, NC.
As such, we will gather at the funeral home for a short time, as family and friends, following the service.
